Doreen Madison

Yoga Teacher & Ayurvedic Practitioner

Hey. I am Doreen.

I am here to support you in learning to be kinder to yourself and slowly develop a way of living that leads to lots of joy and vitality.

Thank you for walking with me on this path.

Honestly

I was very hesitant when it was time to write the ABOUT ME.

Many of the stories I read, went something like this:

“I sent my last $173 to start my business and build it to a 6 figure a month empire. I have an amazing husband, and 3 beautiful children, and run a non-profit…something on the side. Oh and did I mention that I just won the ‘MISS FIT” in my age group?

These stories are amazing, inspiring, and motivating. But, they left me feeling a bit intimidated, and inadequate while listening to my inner voice: “YEAH right – good luck with THAT “ Of course that voice comes from my condition mind. I will teach you how to not believe these self-sabotaging comments.

So what ABOUT ME?

My “Accomplishments”

I:

  • Like myself and even love myself sometimes
  • Genuinely enjoy the company of most people
  • Feel strong, capable and stable the majority of the time
  • Have a good outlook on life
  • Know how to self generate inner joy and peace
  • Enjoy accomplishments, yet my contentment doesn’t depend on it
  • Can FORGIVE with EASE
  • Am pain free 90%ish of the time
  • Enjoy a quiet and sweet confidence (unless LIFE thinks, it is time to be humbled for a while)
  • Not afraid of “negative” emotions
  • Can enter a difficult conversation (after a brief period of procrastination of course)
  • Was able to say goodbye to a big chunk of perfectionism
  • Laugh about myself and WITH others
  • Can touch my toes and balance on my head without hurting myself

Oh, and if I am moving through difficult patches, others don’t have to suffer because of it. Well, maybe my husband sometimes. But hey, he signed the contract 😉

Simple & Sweet Life

6 figures a month empire? NOPE or not yet . Who knows!

I got to visit 19 different countries, buy organic food, have an embarrassing number of yoga pants and always have enough to spoil my loved ones and all my cute animals, including the hubby.

 It’s a GOOD LIFE !

It is very calming and reassuring to know what and what NOT to do, to stay healthy and reverse small imbalances to prevent more serious diseases.

Of course I got a team of Ayurvedic and Chinese Doctors, Psychotherapist, Chiropractor, Massage Therapist and an MD on “stand by ;-)” if I do need help.

It is very freeing to have access to homemade contentment and worthiness, that doesn’t depend on constant accomplishments and accumulation. One of my teachers calls this the TRUE WEALTH.

At Last

I lived in 5 different countries and grew up mostly under communism in East Berlin. Yep, I was at and on the Wall, as it came down with 18 years of age! Perfect timing :-).

This girl had her rebellious and wild times as a gothic, rockabilly and rode the wave of techno in the 90’s.

I also have my share of heart-crushing family trauma and used skydiving, long-distance endurance sports, and intoxicating beverages to distract myself from this past.  It worked for some years and I enjoyed the good times. But eventually, the old scars (samskaras) resurfaced again to be dealt with. Luckily by that time, I discovered YOGA and AYURVEDA. Or I think BECAUSE I developed the skills through the yoga practice and the strength through Ayurveda, I was ready to deal with my subconscious self-sabotaging behavior pattern.

Why I Started Yoga

In 2002, I worked full-time as a parachute rigger and my arms and hands became weak and numb to the point that I couldn’t do my job anymore.  I gave YOGA a try, so I could go back to work and lift my cup of coffee in the morning.

One has its priorities, right?!  Little did I know what I got myself into.

A life-altering and paradigm-shifting journey began that took me on the path to THE LIST above. I also went from jumping out of airplanes to ballroom dancing , hiking and painting. It’s a lot cheaper, I might say wink.

To this day, it is a continuous and gradual transformation, which is only possible with the support and guidance of a like-hearted community.
